I was delighted to see that the new house had a couple of peach trees in the backyard. I've never had a peach tree before. I did grow up around orange trees so I figured that these fellows couldn't be much different. Turns out, uh, yeah, they are.
I sort of missed the boat on killing off the bugs that like to worm their way into this tasty fruit. Apparently there is about a 23 minute window of opportunity in the lifespan of the peach in which to spray those bugs dead. Otherwise you end up with a bunch of fruit that has a tiny hole in it which is the front door of the worm's new home. I seem to have missed that tiny window of opportunity.
It doesn't matter though because I've been assured by countless online sources including the Georgia Extension office that you can still eat the fruit and the worm won't hurt you. So I spent quite a chunk of my Sunday enjoying the peach picking process. After some time cutting out the bad spots I've got a couple of bags of tasty peaches ready for smoothies. Yum!

oh yum! What's not to love about a peach smoothie?
by the way - caught the Craft in America show the other day. Interesting stuff.

Oh yum! Those look great!! I love peach smoothies. My favourite is vanilla yogurt, some orange juice, a few ice cubes, and two peaches. Tastes like a creamsicle!

Those look delish! We had peaches finally this summer. One day there they were on the tree getting ripe the next day gone. We figured the squirrels got them along with my grapes, one day there next day gone.

yummy! Love peaches. Would love a paech tree in my garden. Would actually just love any fruit tree in my garden! Have you thought about drying some too? I think you can do it in the oven at a low temp with the door slighty open, or using a dehydrator. that way you'll be able tp enjoy them all year long without taking up space in your freezer! (A dehydrator is on my christmas wish list)

The peaches look beautiful! And even though they might have some holes, at least you can enjoy them minus un-tasty chemicals!
I'd love to have a fruit tree of some kind someday. :)
