shop reopening & update
Thank you all so much for your kind sewing encouragement. And I am so glad to know that I was not the only truly clueless one about that strawberry. I made a grand start this weekend to tame that beasty sewing machine. The beasty and I were getting along just fine so I was able to churn out a pile of lovelies. And I've added these new pretties to my recently reopened Fluffy Flowers shop.
That sewing bug bit me pretty hard so there is no telling what's going to show up next. Not a creature in sight but oh what fun these were to make!
12 petite treat bags perfect for Valentines, Easter, birthday parties or any time you want to share a small treat. Plus, the bag can be reused to hold all sorts of small treasures.
Zebra Tote Bag sewn from a fun and festive cotton animal drapery valance and lined with a recycled cotton sheet.
And y'all know my coaster mania has been going on for a while.
All of these new treasures are available in my Fluffy Flowers shop. Thanks so much and enjoy!

I did chuckle at you sewing post, I must admit I never knew about changing the sewing machine needle so often either. Love the bags and coasters too!

You amaze me! You've gone from "I don't know much about machine sewing" to turning out a beautiful array of great items in the blink of an eye! As you learn to love your machine, you might want to consider looking into a local shop that might offer you a class (one on one, even) about your machine and how to take care of it. I paid $10 for an attachment kit, for example, that goes on my vacuum cleaner that I can use to vacuum out my machine (you are not suppose to ever blow on or into your machine, because your breath has moisture in it that can apparently over time introduce rust, etc. in the machine) -- I learned about this in a group class I took called something like "know your machine." Another big one is making sure that the bobbin is inserted so that the thread unwinds clockwise from it (unless your manual says otherwise); many people don't know this and pop the bobbin in any old way, and then don't know why their machine stitches so perfectly sometimes and the unreliably other times....
Oh, what fun you're going to keep having!!

What cute tote bags! They seem like they'd be great for someone with a little one, such a sweet animal theme. :-)

Holy cow Batman! You have done a lot of sewing.
Love that flowery heart print fabric.

Cute goods!
I read your last post and I must admit that I almost never change my needle on the machine. I must do that because I have heard it is very helpful!

Hi Felicia. Thanks for stopping by my blog today. Your comment led me back here to see all the sweet things you create. That snowman?... too cool. I am very intimidated by my sewing machine. Changing the bobbin terrifies me. I'm going to try to make better friends with it this year.

Okay. For someone who "doesn't know nothing about sewing..." you do good work. I especially like the petite treat bags. Terribly cute and clever.

Excuse me? THAT is what you produce when you don't know much about a sewing machine? Humph.

Wow! You've been busy. Great work.

Pieces' comment up there cracked me up. But that's what I was thinking, too. Humph. Double humph.

LOL Y'all are too funny! This is the result of hours of trial and error and hoping for the best. They're far from perfect but they sure are made lovingly from my own two hands :)

Ooooh -- I love those bags!! The animal ones have me drooling. There are all sorts of great books out there for "beginning" sewing. I have been reading a lot of them lately (thank you library with a fantastic interloans policy) so if you want any recommendations just let me know. And ya know -- trial and error are some of the BEST teachers (lord knows that's how I work most of the time!).
