Ginger Girl

Y'all might think this post has to do with my oh so sweet doggy, Ginger. In a way, it does, since she was partially the inspiration for this new creature. And just like that sweet dog, this creature is truly one of a kind.

Meet Ginger Girl. You can call her G.G. for short. She was made as a super secret surprise as part of the Plush Team Holiday Swap.

I've got to admit that I procrastinated a bit in making this sweetie pie. I spent weeks designing her in my head then sat down one afternoon and built her.

There were a lot of firsts for me in making this cutie cakes. Using ric rac for the very first time (thank you Karyn!), putting eyelashes on her, and making a removable twirly skirt. I had a blast!

And when all was said and done I fell in love with her. I carried her everywhere with me for the night and was sad to think of sending her out into the world.

But I needn't have worried about her because it turns out that she was much loved and admired in her new home. Kimmie over at The Whimsy Patch has made her safe and sound and loved nestled in among the Christmas tree.

I've been a little distracted around here lately and my blog has been neglected. So since I've been tagged by two lovely ladies I thought I'd accept the challenges.

Carrie K over at My Middle Name is Patience tagged me with the Sixth Picture meme. I'm supposed to go to your sixth picture folder and pick my sixth picture.

I've gotta tell you folks that this was near on impossible! I've deferred my picture organization system to my computer's automatic foldering which has resulted in dozens and possibly hundreds of folders! It seems to be grouping them by date and I'm not about to count them all up. Plus, there are a few folders that I've named and stuffed things into.

And did I mention that I never delete anything? Yeah. And it's been suggested to me around here that I might want to do that, soon, or else a second hard drive will be in order. Um, what can I say? I figured out the hard way that I have to keep pictures at their regular bytes size in order to print them out without looking all pixelated in addition to resizing them smaller for faster loading on the internet. So I have to have at least two copies of everything. I suppose I could delete some of the bad ones and occasionally I actually do but more often I don't.

Perhaps I should look into some resources for picture organization and storage. But not today. Maybe later. Sometime. Soon. Promise! Clearly more photo organization is needed on my end! In the mean time all of these pictures are the sixth pictures in their folders. They're all items available over in my Fluffy Flowers Vintage shop.

My second tag comes from Claire of Absolutely Small. You many remember seeing her infamous Chickenpants creature a while back here on the blog. She's tagged me to write six random things about myself. Hum, another six. My mind has gone blank but I will try to think of something!

Ok, here we go. Uh, I'm thinking. Thinking...

Ok, I can't think of six random things so I'll do six random songs that I can't stop myself from singing along to on the radio. I think I'm pretty much telling my age here with this list but here goes anyway...

Number one has gotta be Raspberry Beret by Prince. This is the only song that I will crank the volume way up on the car radio. And sing along with all the lyrics of course. This is a must!

Next, I'd say Tainted Love by Soft Cell. Yeah, that pretty much sums up my love life so I can really connect with this song.

Ok, then I'd probably say Losing My Religion by R.E.M. This band certainly was a voice of a generation.

Going down the slow and intense road is Never Tear Us Apart by INXS. Too bad about Michael Hutchence.

Finally, I've gotta include Hit Me With Your Best Shot by Pat Benatar. This song was an anthum for a rebellious teenager. Plus, she is one totally groovy tough rock 'n roll cookie!

how to setup a Christmas closet

Is today really December first? November seems to have flown by in a blur and now it's rolled over to the the Christmas month.

Lucky for me I can relax and enjoy the holiday season because all of my shopping is done. Everything is tucked away nicely into the Christmas closet.

You see, all year long I'm always on the lookout for stuff folks on my Christmas shopping list might like. When I spy that thing at a good price I buy it, write their name on it, and stuff it into the Christmas closet. Then about this time of year I take my list and inventory the closet to see if I still need to buy anything else. Usually my list is complete and I don't have to fight the holiday shopping crowds!

I highly recommend the Christmas closet to ease your holiday stress. Not having to shop at this time of year means that I can enjoy some of the other traditions like tree decorating, driving to see Christmas lights, and holiday plays.

It's easy to set up a Christmas closet.

• Just find an out of the way space that is away from prying eyes and hands. If it's lockable that's even better.
• Don't tell anyone about the closet so they won't be tempted to snoop!
• Be sure to write the intended gift recipient's name on the gift either directly on the package or with a post it note or a piece of paper and tape. This is important!
• Check that person's name off your list and keep this list in the closet.
• Be sure to always carry this checked list with you in your purse throughout the year. That way you can check the list if you run across a bargain you're thinking of buying.
• Start your Christmas closet right after the holiday season when bargains are available in every shop.

You'll be so glad you setup a Christmas closet when you've got your feet up and there's a mug of hot cocoa in your hands as you sit and enjoy It's a Wonderful Life with your family.
