I seem to go through phases. I have oodles of hobbies which I tend to go gang busters on until I burn out and move on to the next thing: gardening, creature making, knitting, decorating, reading. Lots of phases. Right now I'm hip deep in stacks of books borrowed from the library and friends.
At the top of the stack is Jennifer Crusie's The Cinderella Deal. I've been reading Jenny's books for years but I missed this one way, way back. Thankfully they reprinted it because this fairytale is a romantic comedy that is fantastically entertaining!
The friend who lent me this book said the main character reminded her so much of me that she just started substituting my name for hers. She insisted that I read this book first, before the others in my towering stack. I'm so glad I did! Our heroine loves all the things that I do: thrifting, crafting, painting, art, and cheaply redecorating old houses. Plus, she's hard up for cash since she quit her day job to become a full time artist and storyteller. Enter the Cinderella Deal proposed by her next door neighbor, a stuffed shirt if ever there was one. I really enjoyed riding along with these characters to a very satisfying conclusion. I liked it so much in fact that I couldn't stop reading this book. I stayed up nearly all night to just about finish it! The next morning my doggy alarm clocks failed to go off so I overslept and ended up forty-five minutes late to work. Not too many books have done that to me!
Conclusion: if you enjoy well told romantic comedies, this book is for you!

I will have to give that book a read, I have read some of her others. My addiction is Nora Roberts as far as books go. I save them all and re-read all the time. Lyndsey Sands is also good if you enjoy trashy vampire love. She has a pretty interesting take on how vampires came about. I just went to the Half Price bookstore yesterday and came home with some treasures.

I stayed up way to late reading City of Glass by Cassandra Clare. I woke up late also, but since I homeschool my kids don't mind.

I have never read her books. But I love how you go from calling her Jennifer, describing her as the author and then switch to Jenny- because of how long that you have been reading her books!
I love your posts!!!

When I first read the post title, I thought it said, "Tom Cruise made me late to work."
Is it safe to say that you highly recommend this book?
Nothing wrong with jumping from one hobby to another. Makes you interesting to follow.

I sure hope your boss didn't mind and thoroughly understands how it is with good books. Sometimes we just HAVE to finish them, even if it means getting up late:)
