You may have heard that the last book in the Harry Potter series has been leaked to the internet. I want to assure you that here at Fluffy Flowers I will not be revealing information from those sources. If you have read any of the allegedly leaked book I ask that you please not comment on that information here. This is a place to have fun sharing our previous HP experiences and to enjoy the company of other HP fans. As Mad-Eye Moody would say: Constant Vigilance!
Fluffy Flowers is celebrating the arrival of the final book in the Harry Potter series with a week of giveaways. Yesterday's winner, as selected by the random number generator, is Jenn of Jenn Maruska’s Blog! Leave a comment on today's blog entry to be entered for the next prize drawing. Included is a hand-knitted mini Weasley sweater on a hanger. This mini Weasley is extra special because it is one of only two maroon "R" sweaters that I made. Leave a Harry Potter comment and I’ll draw the winner’s name tomorrow around 5a.m. Next week we will return to our regularly scheduled blog.

Fluffy Flowers
Pomona Sprout is such an awesomely likeable character. She appears through the series as the Hogwarts’s students Herbology professor. I’ve often wondered what types of delightful fluffy flowers she has up her sleeve!
A Page At Random
“And Harry saw very clearly as he sat there under the hot sun how people who cared about him had stood in front of him one by one, his mother, his father, his godfather, and finally Dumbldore, all determined to protect him; but now that was over. He could not let anybody else stand between him and Voldemort: he must abandon forever the illusion he ought to have lost at the age of one, that the shelter of a parent’s arms meant that nothing could hurt him.” P. 645
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince revealed so much more information than we’ve ever had in the series before. The horcruxes are explained and Dumbledore sets Harry on the path to find and destroy them. Being in the cave and on top of that tower were some of the most painful scenes in the whole series for me. Will Harry go back to school? Or will he set off to complete his assigned task?
Counting on my Mike again, he says he loves the description of the cave when Harry is looking for the first horcrux.
I on the other hand, am thrilled to see that today's prize contains cookie cutters. I bake a mean sugar cookie and am known to mail samples across the miles. ;-)

MMm... Sugar cookies. Oh, sorry, I digress.
It's been a while since I read HBP and I haven't re-read it either (the only book I haven't re-read - maybe I should nip to it before Book 7), but I remember liking it better than OOTP. I am anxious to see that Book 7 holds.
Sorry there's no input on HBP,but my mind's a bit fuzzy on this book.

The best in this book is when Harry finds out that he has not-so-brotherly feelings for Ginny.. And their first kiss infront of 50 people in the Gryffindor common room. And the sadest part is when Harry breaks up with Ginny and of couse the shock when Dumbledore dies. Or did he?!?
I don't think Harry is coming back to school this semester - perhaps later.
And I couldn't believe when Snape "took the other side". I think he is acting on Dumbledore order. I hope so anyway...

Again, I can't believe (well I can) that you knit those teensy sweaters!!!!
Maybe when I'm done with Stephanie, I'll give Harry another go :)

I gotta say, I'm not a Harry Potter fan at all (hence the lack of comments over the last few days), but I'm so impressed with your contest and how much thought you've put into each day's giveaway! well done and have fun!

wow, I love the cookie cutters.
I was also so sad when harry and ginny broke it off.
I loved watching the new film over the weekend and watching the few scenes with her character knowing in advance that she is a smitten harry kitten!

I definitely felt this book was laying the foundation for the last book. The ending shocked me completely, and although I'm kind of not surprised about Snape, Rowling may shift things around again. I enjoyed the romance between Ginny and Harry, and I don't think the final words have been written about them either. I'm not sure what is going to happen in the last one, but I can't wait to find out.

I was devestated about Snape and Dumbledore. Can't get beyond that...the seventh book better makes things right.
Posted by: Tiffany | July 19, 2007 at 09:50 AM
I totally agree with Tiffany. I didn't like this book because of Dumbledore's death. And I hope that Snape WAS acting on Dumbledore's orders, because otherwise, I hope he gets it in Book 7.

The ad for U-NO-POO was my sons favourite part in HBP! I can't see it making it into the movies so I guess it's a little treat for us book-readers.
I loved Ginny and Harry finally getting together and I really don't think it is over between them, just put on hold. I mean, Harry really does have enough on his mind at the moment. If anyone deserves to find love at the end of the story, it's Harry!
I thought this book was very well ended as it left so many questions out there that we know will be answered in the last book, mostly what was Snape thinking? Is he really evil? Dumbledore must have really died because his portrait is hanging in the Head Masters office. I guess we will all know by this time next week!!

The bit with the Inferi in the cave is going to make it awfully hard for me to watch the movie when it comes out--I don't do well with zombies :).
For some reason, the fact that Hermione was right about "Prince" referring to a girl really stuck with me. I wonder if it's not foreshadowing that Harry is going to either listen to her less in the future, or realize she is in fact quite smart and listen to her more...

So many mysteries left hanging after the end of HBP.
I think Hermione might try to convince them to go back to school. And I also think Ginny will say "if you don't go, I don't go", so I have a feeling they might wind up at school at least for a little bit - especially because McGonnegall is going to be looking for that type of support, and what better support than the Boy-Who-Lived and the Weasley family? This is, of course, assuming the school even re-opens. I wouldn't be surprised if after Dumbledore's murder, the board decides to close the school temporarily.

[not eligible for drawing]
On your mention of Professor Sprout, I have to say how very disappointed I was in the actress they cast for her in the movies -- SO totally not right! Slugworth was a fascinating character; despite the tragedy of the half-blood prince, I would think that Harry would have a new/better disposition towards potions than when Snape was the professor, and I have a funny feeling that potions will come into play as Harry deals with Snape (will veritaserum play a role?).... I am so glad we're agreed about avoiding the spoilers -- I see an all-nighter in my very near future! I also, hope, though, that you hold some length of time here on your site before talking about the new book -- maybe give it a week for everybody to catch up?

I think Snape acted on Dumbledore's orders too. Maybe he killed Dumbledore so Malfoy wouldn't have to. I also think maybe Malfoy will join the Order & become good. I don't know! So many things to speculate & wonder about. I loved U-No-Poo & the Weasley twins shop!!!

U NO POO....I completely forgot about that...SO funny!
I am going to buy my copy of the new book on Saturday, I won't particate in the fun Friday night...but we are going to see the movie this weekend, take the kid (even at 21 she wants to go with us!! yay!!)
Posted by: Stephanie | July 19, 2007 at 11:53 AM
I'm thrilled that I won - thank you so much!
This book was very difficult for me to get through. By the end I was sobbing. Add to it that I bought it, brought it home and read it straight through - so there was a lack of sleep involved as well.
I fear the same will happen when I get my hands on the final book...

There is just too much to say to put in a little comment here, but u-no-poo was a highlight for me--hehe! (I love Mrs. Weasley mouthing the words "u-no-poo" and then saying, "They'll be murdered in their beds!" Cracks me up! I too loved all the information we received in this book. I loved the fistfight between Dobby and Kreacher as well--you gotta love Dobby's devotion to Harry. Also, not to start a debate, but I think Snape is good. I'm anxious to see how all the characters fall in this debate.

Charlie says, "I think Harry will go to school and then Voldemort will come to the school and Harry will fight him in his parents memory, and end him! I also think that someone important will die and Snape will help him.
I am so excited! Are you?"
:)

I'm not such a big Harry Potter fan. But I know from reading all the comments that many of you are.
So all you anxious waiting people, have fun reading the new book!!!

I love Fred and George so very much! They are in this book a good amount, which I like.
Just finished this book (reread for the sixth or so time) and can't wait until tomorrow! Anyone else getting their book at midnight?

I have a dark secret to share; I am totally in love with Snape. I'm afraid I've got a thing for bad boys, or is it because I totally dig Allan Rickman????
Posted by: Brigitta | July 19, 2007 at 07:36 PM
What have I been missing here? That sweater is amazing and would look awesome in my son's mini bedroom in my doll house.
But I am way behind in the books so dare not comment on them.
My 10yr old is however a true Potter-head and can't wait for the final book. He devours them.
