Yesterday I had to take a work related road trip up the road and out of town. Athens is a pretty long trek from Macon and I happened to be passing through one of my very favorite little antiquing towns. Madison, Georgia is just one of those quaint little places with old brick buildings and a historic tiny town square. All of the petite downtown is stuffed with groovy antique stores. As I rolled into town I took a quick couple of turns around the square to park in front of my favorite shop. A quick glance at the dashboard clock told me I had exactly fifteen minutes to stretch my legs and shop before I had to be back on the road in time for my meeting.
I couldn’t believe the sign on the door when I approached the Old Buggy Factory. Sale – doors will close permanently September 30th. I looked at my watch. I don’t know why I looked at my watch because it doesn’t tell you the date and I couldn’t remember yesterday’s date to save my life. But I knew it was pretty close to the 30th and that this would be the last time I’d get to shop at the fabulous antique store.
The Old Buggy Factory is so named because apparently it really was an old buggy factory a long time ago. I took a turn about the place and scooped up a couple of treasures. As I was checking out I spied the camera in my bag and whipped it out to take these beautiful pictures. Now you can see how much I’ll miss the place! But the good news is that several of the vendors are heading out to a nearby location. So if you’re in the area and want to find some pretty treasures drop by Church Street Antique Market in Covington, Georgia.
And here is the oh so pretty bargain I picked up. Can't wait to clean it up and start furnishing it! Tomorrow, Madison's independent bookseller, Dog Ear Books.
Can't wait to see what you do with the doll house - I'm sure it'll be fun and interesting!

What a fantastic find! I've always wanted a cute little dollhouse. Never had one as a child, and now I may just have to get one "for the grandkids".

You've brought out my inner girly girl with that dollhouse. I LOVE dollhouses.. and miniatures. I have one specific dollhouse that I cut out of a Real Toys catalog that will one day be mine. Unfortunately, it costs half of our monthly rent- so I'll be waiting a while.
I'd love to live in that shop.. it reminds me of the old Victoria Magazine spreads.

Oh, I *love* Madison! The only major antique purchase I ever made was from there (a drop-leaf pine dining table, circa 1870). Such a charming little town.
What a bummer that that sweet store is closing!
