What to do with a pile of empty wooden thread spools? Hum, I'll have to think on this one for a while. Anyone have any ideas?
I spent some time playing with paper this weekend and made several new Fluffy Flowers creature cards from some old favorites. All of these are available in the shop. Enjoy your day!
My old thread spools become cat toys, but I'm sure you can come up with something better than that.

Such cute cards! I'll be watching to see what others come up with for the spools - I have dozens myself. Thanks!

I love the heart you made with them!! And, as you saw, thank you for the Valentine Couple!!! And the little keychain... you always send the best little surprises in your packages! And then the kids fight over who gets it!;) We love them!

I've decided I'm going to collect my empty spools and get an extra long shoe lace and use it as a educational tool for my little kids. At the resource library that is one of the items they suggest :)

I use the wooden spools to store ribbons.

Use your heart picture you took of them to create note cards. I buy blank note cards all the time that have a picture on top that I love. Your heart would make a cute, cute card.

Spools, well I've seen them used as arms and legs of dolls.

How about this idea http://needlebook.blogspot.com/2008/02/pretty-organized.html
It looks so pretty! I don't think I've got any old spools left - they would be perfect for storing my ribbon.

You can make hangers from the wooden spools. Add some beads, ribbon and string...
Your cards are lovely felicia!

I make cute little Christmas tree ornaments with empty spools (I use the mini ones).
I usally wrap the spools with dmc floss or old christmas ribbons or fabric.
I use 4 on the bottom (glue them together) then top those with 3 more on top, then 2 more on top of those, and then 1 on top (all glued together). It forms a little tree once they're all glued together - you can add a little ribbon in the middle of the top spool to be able to hang them from the tree :)
LOVE the new cards!!!

just wanted to say "hi" I seem to be on the mend again. I can sit up for over half an hour now LOL but there's definately improvement. Been for a short walk twice now, so hopefully I'll be blogging and scrapping again very soon.
Take care.

definately keep them...wind yarn, ribbon, wool, string on them then put them into an old canning jar. in your studio. make a little mouse to sit on one of them, or just store the spools in a jar. Hopefully all these wonderful ideas will spark more. Love the cards.

I like finding those birthday candles that are straight on the sides (not swirled) and using spools to hold them. I've got a thing for vintage candle holders and the wood ones count! I love seeing little lighted spools on a cake.

No idea what to do with them...I've got some too, that actually belonged to my great-grandmother (I somehow inherited her sewing kit). It's probably strange, but sometimes I just pull them out of the box (many still have thread...) and look at them. Funny. It's just nice to have them around.

Felicia - I have used the spools for storage - for fun - but my favorite use has been little notes wrapped around them - take a look at the pictures at this flickr site. http://www.flickr.com/photos/withrootslikethese
the spool pictures are on page two of her shop set.
