Boy has the Fluffy Flower factory been busy lately. I've been making all sorts of fun creatures for my upcoming ICE Atlanta craft show. Some are twists on old favorites and others are brand new designs. Promise I'll take some pictures for you soon. In the mean time I ask myself how on earth I'm managing to get all this done?
There are certainly no more hours in the day. And I seem to have just the same amount of daily responsibilities. Yet, somehow, I'm managing to squeeze in more creature production time. Multiple plush creatures are laying all over the studio is various states of completion. Just exactly how am I managing to get all this stuff done?
It must be the pressure of working under a deadline. June 7th will be here lickity split so I know I've got to ramp it up a notch in order to have a fully stocked creature booth. Without this target date I'd probably still be thinking about what new creatures I'd like to make instead of actually making them.
Its the preplanning that seems to make all the difference. All those lists both on paper and in my head are helping me to break down the myriad steps into manageable chunks.
I must have learned this skill in college. I can remember many nights of working until 3a.m. on a paper that was due at 8a.m. I didn't always leave things until the last minute, but I did it often enough to know that I prefer to plan ahead and work steadily over a few days and weeks toward my goal rather than to squeeze it all in at the last minute.
Having that little extra bit of time to create means that I can enjoy the process. So here I am, hip deep in giving life to new, cute little creatures. And I'm having a blast.
Glad you are finding time to work on your creatures. Good luck with ICE.

Ohh, there's a cute peek. Good luck with your plan. And good for you that you're not a procrastinator like me!

So glad you're having fun making your creatures! Firm deadlines do have a way of inspiring one, don't they? :) ICE Atlanta sounds just wonderful! Wish I lived closer so I could go!

You're so good! You've got a great start on putting together your stash for the big show! I work better under a deadline, but do tend to be one of those people who think they have PLENTY of time to get it done, and then scramble last minute....And no matter how much i manage to get ready, i always feel like there is not enough! Good for you! :)

Good for you Felicia. I've been spending way too much time daydreaming and not enough time getting things done.

Aww, I'm glad you're having fun. College is definitely good for teaching procrastinators (like me!) how to work very fast to make up for lost time at the very last minute. I find that I'm very good at memorizing things last minute and multi-tasking because of it. Yay!

I know that I would be one to wait till say June 6th to get things done. Good for you to get a jump and be able to enjoy the process-which is half the fun, also prevents burn out I imagine.

Very sweet little facie...and don't you think that this final feeling of summer is here helps to fuel that added bit of creative energy? Of course, it's not doing it for ME right now...

Hi Felicia,
So glad to hear you're having a blast with the fluffies. It's definately good to set goals with these kind of things to keep you on track. I know your fair will be a hit and the fluffies will find wonderful new homes
Lots of Hugs,

Preplanning does make life more manageable. I'm finding that if I think of all the things I need to do then I get way more stressed. When I break things down into chunks, it seems so much more doable.

i think of creativity kind of like bouganvillea...all you need is a little twig to start. nurture it and...flowers multiplying and making everything prettier! congratulations on feeding your creativity garden! (wow...that sounds so cheesy but i just can't think of another way to put it)... and it's so rewarding to know that a deadline is not looming but rather beckoning gently.

I always seem to get more done when I have too much to do. A little deadline pressure does wonders. Good luck with the show!
